[New Monster] Jidna

Fellhorn groaned.

‘How much is this going to coast me?’ the druid asked the strange reptilian creature.

‘Two hundred silver pieces or three roast cows,’ the jidna replied.

The druid dug deep and handed over the silver pieces.

The dragon-like creature eyed the coins and opened its mouth, releasing a curled up gnome from a pouch under its lower jaw. The thing scooped the coins into its pouch and loped off.

‘You’d better have some spells to pay me back for that,’ the druid said.

The gnome stretched and stood up.

‘How do I get myself into these predicaments?’

About the size of a small pony, the jidna is an offshoot of dragon-kind that resembles a wingless wyrm with a huge pouch, similar to a pelican’s, under its lower jaw. This pouch can carry a small human child, a halfling or gnome and these creatures often try to scoop up such prey to run off with and swallow whole at their convenience. Victims caught in this pouch can cut themselves out by dealing six points of damage to the beast, which does regenerate 1d3 hit points per turn. If swallowed victims have three turns to escape or perish. It is not uncommon for these semi-intelligent creatures to kidnap children to hold for ransom (usually more meat). Jidna speak a croaking version of the Common Tongue.
